Final Winners Crowned In Massive Black Diamond Poker Open Finale

The Black Diamond Poker Open is finished and now all that’s left is to tell you who won and how much they walked away with. As expected, competition was fierce in the $250,000 Guaranteed Championship Series Main Event with 695 players vying for the top spot. The prize pool easily topped its guarantee and there was over $45,000 in additional cash fueling the frenzy.

So, who won? Brett A took the top spot, earning $57,598.56 and receiving an engraved watch worth over $5,000 to commemorate his victory. Second place and $38,398.75 went to Byran B and Travis C rounded out the top three with a very tidy $29,242.12 added to his bankroll. The rest of the final table went as follows: Ryan M ($21,414.68); Thomas P ($15,359.50); Joel S ($11,519.62); Robert T ($8,565.87); Marchant D ($5,759.81) and Philipp S ($3,839.87).

The Championship Series Main Event was followed by a more modest $25,000 Guaranteed Championship Series Second Chance tournament, which was won by Daniel F. He earned $8,019.01 for his victory. The prize pool for this event also exceeded the guarantee by a healthy margin: $36,450.00 was disbursed to the winners.

World Series Of Poker of Africa Main Event Concludes

You probably didn’t know it was happening and, honestly, neither did wee, but the second annual World Series of Poker Africa main event was won by Joe-Boy Rahme, who hails from South Africa. He took the top spot in the $3,300 main event, topping a field of 218 players over three days. That play, when combined with the prize pool of $634,380, netted the restauranteur-turned-poker-pro a very nice $158,595.

Rahme, who’s well known in the Adrican poker scene had to face down a very tough final table at the Emerald Resort and Casino in Jahannesburg. In fact, winners from two earlier events were sitting there as well: Gregory Ronaldson, who’d won event #1 and Jason Straus, who’d taken event #2. However, in the end, Rahme was faced down Ivan Pakkiri, whose Q-10 couldn’t best Rahnme’s J-J.

After his win, Rahme said, “This feels great; I’ve been working toward a WSOP championship for 25 years. This is fabulous.”

If you’re curious, here are the final results and payouts from the event:
1. Joe-Boy Rahme ($158,595)
2. Ivan Pakkiri ($98,012)
3. Jason Straus ($71,368)
4. James Parker ($52,780)
5. Gregory Ronaldson ($39,649)
6. Marc Joseph ($30,196)
7. Brad Flynn ($23,409)
8. Matt Mullhall ($18,397)
9. Brian Bouwer ($14,654)
